Addressing the rise in workplace harassment in Pakistan

Abstract

• The evolving dynamics of globalisation have led to increased female involvement in the workforce. However, this economic progress has been accompanied by a troubling consequence: a rise in human rights violations and abuses. Recognising the significance of harassment is critical. Without the acknowledgment of its pervasiveness by both the state and society, it becomes challenging to effectively tackle the problem and establish a safe environment for everyone, particularly women and girls. The purpose of this review is to provide clarity on what constitutes workplace harassment, factors associated with its increased prevalence and to offer recommendations on how to tackle this evil.
